In this charming and historical town, we will gather for guided meditation, contemplative walks, inquiry, group & partner work, poetry, music and dance. We will nourish ourselves with beautiful environments, delicious food and wonderful company. 

This retreat is designed for you to drop into the heart of The Work of Byron Katie, to experience it as a deep meditation; meeting any parts of ourselves that have been previously un-welcomed. This is a space to come and be as you are, an ideal retreat for both beginners & advanced practitioners of The Work.
About Vejer de la Frontera

"The town is a historical site awarded the National Prize for the Beautification of Andalusian Towns forming a network of the most beautiful villages in Spain. It is perched on top of a beautiful hill overlooking the River Barbate. 

Nine kilos from the town centre is Playa El Palmar, one of the most famous beaches on Cadiz's coastline. A beautiful, natural environment with a stark contrast between the fine, golden sand and the crystal, clear water. Steady wind makes it a paradise for water sports enthusiasts."

Travel/How to Get Here


  • The nearest airport is Seville Airport, about a 2 hour drive from the event space
  • From the airport, we suggest you rent a car to drive to Vejer. Car rentals in the area are relatively inexpensive and can be booked in advance through popular websites like rentcars.com, expedia.com, kayak.com etc
  • We suggest participants arrange carpools and ride shares, as we will not all need cars once we arrive in Vejer. After sign up, we will invite you to a whatsapp group so guests can connect and coordinate
  • If you do not want to rent a car, you can take an Uber from the airport to Vejer for approximately $150-200 euros ​​​

Activities


​There are many options for activities in the area. Artesana (the event space) is a 10 minute drive to the beach. There will also be options to do kundulini yoga, hike in the Reserva Natural la Breña in Cádiz, and explore local gastronomy. We will arrange some fun group activities once we get closer to the event​

Meals

​Meals are on your own. Vejer is a town known for it's delicious food! You can choose from the many restaurants in town, which range from very affordable (example: $7 euro breakfast) to high-end restaurants, all within walking distance. You can also prepare your own meals using the kitchen in your lodgings

Q & A

What is your cancellation policy for this event?
​Refunds will be offered before July 30, 2024 less a $100 processing fee per attendee. No refunds after unless we are able to fill your spot in which case your payment will be refunded, less a $100 processing fee. If you do not send advance notice of your cancellation, if you do not attend, or if you leave the workshop early, your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable

I am new to The Work by Byron Katie. Is this event suitable for me? 
Yes! These events are wonderful for those who are new to The Work. Many newcomers walk away with some of the most meaningful and profound experiences of their life. These 7-day retreats offer an opportunity to immerse yourself in the journey of undoing the stories that cause suffering, and return to the love that you are

Can you tell me more about the lodging and Artesana, the event space? 
Casas Vejer Debra is a beautiful collection of homes hosted by a friend of Andrea's who is offering a wonderful discount on lodging to those attending the retreat. These are separate units located around town.

​Artesana is Debra's event space where we will hold our daily sessions. Artesana is in the center of town, a comfortable 5-10 minute walk to all of Debra's housing units. 

Lodging with Casas Vejer Debra is limited, so we advise you to book early if you'd like to stay here.

Will I need a car in Vejer?
The beach is a 10 minute drive from town center, and hiking trails about 20 minutes. If you want to move around freely and explore the area, you will need access to a car. If you plan on staying in the town center, you won't need a car as Vejer is a walkable town. Not everyone will need a car, and we hope there will be enough cars within the group to coordinate ride shares.  Please note that there are no Uber's in Vejer, but taxi's are available.

What will the weather be like in Vejer?  
This time of year in Vejer is often very lovely, with temperatures ranging from high 70's to mid 60's (fahrenheit) in the evening

What's the best way to exchange money and pay for goods? 
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Vejer. If you need/want cash, there are ATM's available that offer good exchange rates 

What should I pack? 
Power adapters if coming from outside Europe (please check to see what kind of adapter you need). Comfortable clothing and walking shoes, tennis shoes for hiking, beach/sun gear, water bottle, light layers in the event of cooler evenings. We will provide a journal and pen, but feel free to bring your own if you like
